Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park

Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park is one of the best kept skiing secrets in the region. Not only are the trails spectacularly beautiful, they offer terrain that is loved by everyone who gives them a try.

Just 25 minutes from downtown Thunder Bay these trails are adjacent to one of the largest and most visited waterfalls in Ontario. Often called the “Niagara of the North”, Kakabeka Falls is a must see feature in Northwestern Ontario. Just follow Hwy 11/17 west of the city for approximately 25 kms.

You can locate the ski trails by turning left on to Hwy 590 and then left on to Luckens Road. The parking lot is on the left when you turn on Luckens Road. There is no chalet at Kakabeka but there is a newly built Kaministiquia Hut for signing in and putting on your boots! There is a fee box beside the hut in the parking lot for those who are purchasing day use passes. Adult $10, Student $5, Child $4.  If you are a member, please leave your membership card on the dash of your car.

There are 13 km of ski trails groomed for skate and classic at the Park!

Thunder Bay Nordic Trails is a non-profit organization that grooms 100km of cross-country ski trails within our three ski areas: Kamview Nordic Centre, Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park
